Last year, we brought back the old GMHA tradition of a pleasure trail ride on a moonlit midsummer evening. It was a hit! Last year’s costume theme ‘Superheroes and their Super Horses’ was fun and made for some great photo ops. This year’s theme will be ‘How the West Was Won,’ so yes, that means cowboys and indians, but also prospectors, trappers, pioneers, sheriffs, gunfighters – you get the idea! There will be awards for best costume in a variety of arbitrary categories. Don’t forget to bring a potluck dish to share.
This year, we will start with a pre-ride briefing at 5pm. The trail options will be 5 and 8 miles, so you’ll have plenty of time to finish before dark, but just in case, we’ll light the last couple of miles with glow sticks. It’s a good idea to bring a headlamp or flashlight in case cloud cover blocks the predicted full moon.
Pre-registration is not necessary for this event, but it is appreciated. If you plan to register on site, please come at least 1/2 hour early.
