Event Details

There are two divisions- Hunting (faster) and Hacking (leisurely). The optimum time is set beforehand. The time is not known by the riders, who should set their own pace according to good sense and the horse’s condition.

Schedule: Check-in begins at 7:00am. Riders must be on grounds by 8:30am for the pre-ride briefing. The pace will begin at 9:00am. Post Entry riders must be checked in before 9am! We will not assign ride times. Check in with the timer when you’re ready to go, and your team will be given a slot. Teams are sent out at 3-minute intervals.

Holds: There will be a hold roughly half way with water for your horse and water/snacks for the rider. You do not need to stop for any specified time, but the Optimum Time for each division does include an extra 10-minutes for this hold.

Meals: A light breakfast and  lunch will be provided.

Stabling: A day stall is provided with your entry. You can purchase additional stabling if needed.

Awards: Prize & ribbons 1-6 awarded in each division. Placings are based on how close each team gets to the optimum time for their division. Optimum time will be shared when the results are final.

Horse Health Requirements

GMHA requires a negative Coggins and proof of rabies vaccination within 12 months for each horse that comes on the property.  Rabies titers are accepted within one year of event date and must accompany a note from your veterinarian explaining the reason why the vaccine could not be administered.

Please note that the State of Vermont requires a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection within 30 days or Exhibition Permit from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture’s Animal Health office for any horses entering the state. GMHA does not require these documents with entry, but the VT Agency of Agriculture may enforce these regulations at any time.
